DESCRIPTION
Secondary rhinoplasty is a cosmetic surgery performed after a previous rhinoplasty, with the aim of correcting or improving the results of the first surgery. In general, it is performed when the patient is not satisfied with the result obtained in the previous surgery or if there has been any problem after the intervention, such as deformity, breathing difficulties or visible scars.
The secondary rhinoplasty procedure is similar to primary rhinoplasty, although it is more complex due to the presence of scar tissue and alterations in the patient’s previous anatomy. The plastic surgeon must have a detailed knowledge of the nasal structure in order to address the correction of the deformity or existing problem. In general, secondary rhinoplasty may involve removal of scar tissue, reconstruction of nasal cartilage and reshaping of the nasal tip. It is important for the patient to understand that secondary rhinoplasty can be more difficult and time consuming than the previous surgery, and that it is essential to choose a plastic surgeon who is highly skilled and experienced in this area to achieve the best possible results.
