DESCRIPTION
Unilateral ptosis correction is a surgical procedure used to correct an abnormal drooping of the upper eyelid in only one eye, known as ptosis. Ptosis can be congenital or acquired due to neurological injury or disease, and can affect the appearance and function of the affected eye. Reconstructive ptosis surgery aims to correct the position of the upper eyelid and improve the vision and appearance of the affected eye.
The unilateral ptosis correction procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia and sedation, and begins with an incision in the skin of the affected upper eyelid. Through this incision, the levator muscle of the upper eyelid is tightened and fixed in its new position to lift the eyelid. If necessary, excess upper eyelid skin may also be removed. After surgery, sutures are applied and a cold compress is placed on the eye area to reduce swelling.
