DESCRIPTION
Bilateral ptosis correction is a surgical procedure used to correct an abnormal drooping of both upper eyelids, known as ptosis. Ptosis can be congenital or acquired due to neurological injury or disease, and can affect the appearance and function of the affected eyes. Bilateral ptosis reconstructive surgery aims to correct the position of the upper eyelids and improve the vision and appearance of the affected eyes.
The bilateral ptosis correction procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia and sedation, and begins with an incision in the upper eyelid skin of both eyes. Through this incision, the levator muscle of the upper eyelid is tightened and fixed in its new position to lift the eyelids. If necessary, excess upper eyelid skin can also be removed.
